I do not use Yahoo Mail or Flickr very often BUT I have tested the Yahoo
Messenger sign-out thing. I had signed myself into my main Yahoo ID on one
computer. Then I went to a second computer and signed into YM with the same
ID and when I did, it allowed me to and simultaneously, signed me out of YM
on the first computer. I was able to do the same on a third computer. I
don't think this should happen like this but it seems to be the way YM is
set up so, I guess so that if you accidentally leave yourself signed on at
work or home and you are away from that computer, you can still sign in on
what ever computer you happen to be using. Of course, this also means that
there is a chance that someone else is signing into your YM account on
another computer.

I know that YM is tied to other Yahoo website services but I regularly will
be signed into YM on one ID and then be signed into various other Yahoo
websites under other Yahoo ID's. There is a setting in YM where if you
click a link from within YM, it will sign you into that Yahoo service, for
example, if you check your mail from a prompt in YM, it opens a web page to
Yahoo Mail under that Yahoo ID. This is about the only time that I can be
signed into a Yahoo Group under one ID and then still check my Yahoo Mail
from YM under that ID, a different one. I just so happened to have a new
piece of mail in the Yahoo Mail account that I rarely use with the same ID
as YM so I am checking it now and instead of closing the window when done, I
will sign out and see if that simultaneously signs me out of YM at the same
time. I'll BARB. LOL

OK.. after checking the mail account, the usual spam that made it into the
inbox, I signed out of that Yahoo ID, the same one that I use for YM and it
signed me out on the web page but did not sign me out of YM.

Considering this, I would be suspect that someone is using your Yahoo ID on
another computer. You could change your password to see if this halts the
problem. Is there a chance that you one day signed into YM on another
computer and it was set up to "Remember Me", so that someone else who opens
YM on that computer could click sign-in and actually sign into your YM
account while they wouldn't know your password as it will only show up as
bullets (dots) in the password field? Just a thought. Changing your
password would solve that problem.

Subject: [Y!M] Signed in on another device?

Earlier today I had my messenger on, (version 9.0.0.2112), i was in yahoo
email at the time, and i got an onscreen prompt saying i had been signed out
due to my having signed in on another machine/device. I had been working in
firefox with three or four open tabs back and forth and i at first thought i
had accidentally signed out of email on one of the tabs, and when i tried
to access another folder in my email i got the yahoo prompt requesting my
password, it had my yahoo sign in seal so i know it was from yahoo.

When i minimized my browser a few minutes later i saw the little prompt
again , looked at my messenger and it had been signed out. I am the only
person who knows my password, and while i did sign n and out of yahoo mail
and flickr i never signed out of messenger.

Has anyone else been signed out in this manner, or is it possible someone
has managed to obtain my yahoo password using some kind of password hack
device? I'm very aware of phishing scams and I have never even come close
to acessing any of those type messages.

I do know someone however who might have access to some kind of
sophisticated software and might have cracked my password although it is
fairly strong.

Is there any way of telling if this was a false signout or if someone on
another device actually did access my messenger? And if that was done what
are my options in terms of pursuing or prosecuting this person?
