Well I finally managed to stumble upon the answer to my dilemma and as you
might suspect it is another classic example of yahoo fixing something that isnt
broken, and not realizing that new and improved are not synonyms.

I recently bought a new Dell Inspiron 530 and when i downloaded Yahoo messenger
I guess I got the "latest and greatest" version, which signs me in to "yahoo
chat" when i sign into my yahoo email. No messenger prompt appears anywhere
and I had no idea it was doing it, so I am not sure if yahoo chat and yahoo
messenger are the same and I really don't care. but if I am signed into yahoo
messenger as i used to do, and i sign out of and back into yahoo email,
sometimes, not always but sometimes it signs me out of yahoo messenger saying I
have signed into messenger on another device when I really haven't. Just
wanted to let everyone know in case they are having the same problem, and if
that old version download site is still up and running, I'm going to dump this
garbage and download an older version.
