Not a clue from me. LOL Well, I take that back after doing a little Googling (see below).
Do you have to use it within the Pidgen (sic) Chat Client? You can also use YM via the Yahoo Mail web page although it's not a fully functioning version like the separate program. At least you would be able to chat with folks while working on this other issue. I did a Google of - linux pidgen yahoo messenger not working - and I see the correct spelling is pidgin so after fixing that search, I see you are not alone and forum threads go back to 2008 on this issue... BUT the current issue may be due to the fact that Yahoo, Inc. has killed off any versions of YM below 8.0x. If you were using YM 6.0x or 7.0x, that is likely the reason it's not working. See this article. http://stuff.techwhack.com/6804-yahoo-messenger-pidgin The article does contain a FIX so it might be your solution. Several of the below threads reference a solution posted right on the Pidgin site... http://www.celticwolf.com/useful-information/faqs/26-pidgin-yahoo Here are some other Linux forum threads on the topic. http://necoda.com/uncategorized/yahoo-messenger-not-working-on-pidgin/ http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-software-2/yahoo-not-working-o n-pidgin-this-days-how-to-fix-it-see-the-thread-734278/ http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-software-2/yahoo-wont-login-on -ubuntu-9.04-beta-using-pidgin-716717/ http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-software-2/yahoo-messenger-ser ver-in-pidgin-690560/ Lenny Vasbinder http://lennyvasbinder.blogspot.com FREE and automatic online remote backup of your documents, photos and files... https://mozy.com/?ref=SY4ZSI Check out how simple and secure it can be to use the Mozy remote backup system.
