When you all set up your accounts, were they completely different Yahoo ID's
or did you have one ID and then create the other ID as an alias of the first
one? Until recently, you could have multiple aliases and sign in under one
of the aliases and that would be like a completely separate Yahoo ID but
Yahoo!, Inc., recently (maybe in the past year as part of the new profiles)
made it so that ALL aliases were integrated and made a part of the initial
Yahoo ID so even when you sign into an alias, it's as if you are signing
into your main account. This would explain why one of you all can "boot"
the other off when signing in. And then if they try to sign back in, it
would boot you off... back and forth. If this is likely your issue, then
the cure for this is to sign out of ALL Yahoo services (messenger, mail,
etc.) and then go to http://messenger.yahoo.com and sign up for a new
account for one of the users.

As far as your Mobile YM, if you did not sign out on the phone, it may still
show you as signed on even if you turn off the phone. Yahoo also has a
habit, with some aspects of YM, of showing someone as still online or using
a service even when they are not. I've seen people (my friends) showing up
as online and Mobile and have sent them an IM and never got a reply. I
would then call them and they would tell me they signed out of Yahoo Mobile
a while ago, yet they were still showing up as online on my friends list.
I've also seen this in Yahoo Chat Rooms, where someone would leave the room
and even sign out of YM, yet they are still showing up as being in the Chat
Room. I think both of these issues have more to do with the constant and
regular Yahoo Server issues that Yahoo always seems to be working on.

Let me know if the first paragraph solves the boot-off problem. The second
paragraph doesn't really offer any solutions, just an explanation of what I
think may be happening.

Subject: [Y!M] IM Problems

Ok here is my problem I have IM logging me on through my pjhone and says I
am online and has my phone number there even when my phone is off. Also
another family memebr is getting messages that are meant for through their
account.

I mean they can be logged on into their email and if I log on I boot them
out and if they log on they boot me out. We are working from two different
computers in two different locations of the city.

Any ideas or starting places would greatly be appreciated by all.

Thanks,
Harold F. Hawkins II
