What exactly is happening? What version of YM 8? Click Help Menu, then About YM to find out version.
Have you tried re-typing your Yahoo ID and password? If you click Cancel while it is trying to sign in, it should default to a YM window where you can re-type these in manually... that's if you have it set up to remember your Yahoo ID and password. Do you have a firewall? Hopefully yes, and if yes, which one? Are you able to see if YM is able to connect through your firewall?
