I'm not sure what you mean but I'm guessing the Yahoo Toolbar that Yahoo
tries to push on folks downloading YM? I DO NOT install any add-ons that
come with software downloads. If I wanted those programs, I'd download them
myself. I understand that companies bundle some software like Toolbars as a
way of paying for providing the free software but I DO NOT like how they
have it pre- checked off and usually in smaller print so folks might
unknowingly download and install the bundled stuff.

FileHippo DOES NOT add on anything themselves. That Yahoo Toolbar was added
into the YM software as part of a package. I've been seeing the Bing!
Toolbar (from MS) being pushed as a toolbar with other software downloads.

Once you download and install YM from the full downloaded program from
FileHippo, then the first thing you should do BEFORE using it, is go into
the Preferences section and set up your preferences, especially for things
like Archived messages. Someone recently reported that the default setting
for 9.0x was set to delete archives each time you close YM. I do not recall
if that was a default or not when I installed 9.0x on my Vista computer, a
month or so ago. I choose to keep my archives permanently but there are
options to only keep the last six months or none of them.

ALSO, I think YM still has it set up as a default to start up every time you
start your computer so you should also change those settings in the
Preferences section.

Most IM programs and media players like to have themselves starting up every
time you turn on your computer but that is simply unnecessary bloat being
added to your start up process and makes your computer start up much slower
and then run slower if you have all of these programs running in the
background that you might not even use. Even if they are not listed in
startup processes, these programs are still easily accessible when needed.
