Uploading a patch that cleans up BuilderUtils further.
[~vinodkv], I tried to remove BuilderUtils altogether, but there are 100s of
calls to the BuilderUtils methods. In most of these cases, BuilderUtils
simplify code and avoid duplication - I think we should hold onto BuilderUtils.
