IIUC, the value of adding back this API is to avoid the UnknownMethodException
in java, app-writer who mistakenly intended to use this API/feature has to
revisit their code anyway...because the API/feature was not complete.
Anyway, if we agree to add back this API, I think we can only add the plain
methods in the class. No need to add to the proto definition, as it's just a
useless payload sent to the RM. Also, only add to 2.8, no need to add to trunk ?
