I also agree that the JSON format is better. But it's not really stabilized if
we have an XML format that may change or be replaced in the near future. If
the JSON format is important enough, then someone will make the time to work on
this.
Given that code freeze for Hadoop 3 beta 1 is tomorrow (Sept 15), perhaps we
should compromise by removing this for now from branch-3.0 but leave it in
trunk, and revisit this for 3.1.0? Perhaps someone will even have time to work
on YARN-5536 before the 3.1.0 release.
