thanks Miklos Szegedi for reopening it. Apologies for missing this in final
patch :-(
Additional changes looks fine for me. Findbugs are unrelated to this patch and
checkstyle comment is not major.
I am going ahead with committing this as branch-2.9 cut off is done and ready
for RC. This JIRA need to be committed to branch-2.9 as well.
