Wangda Tan commented on YARN-7457:
----------------------------------
[~kkaranasos],
Since delay scheduling policy will be per-app, I think it should be fine if one
app requests time-based and the other requests m-o-based. This will be fine to
migrate apps from m-o-based to time-based since changing one app won't impact
other running apps.
[~Tao Yang],
Since both JIRAs may need the string-string map. I would prefer to create a
separate JIRA to add the API instead of coupling two JIRAs together. [~sunilg]
thoughts?
> Delay scheduling should be an individual policy instead of part of scheduler
> implementation

> Currently, different schedulers have slightly different delay scheduling
> implementations. Ideally we should make delay scheduling independent from
> scheduler implementation. Benefits of doing this:
> 1) Applications can choose which delay scheduling policy to use, it could be
> time-based / missed-opportunistic-based or whatever new delay scheduling
> policy supported by the cluster. Now it is global config of scheduler.
> 2) Make scheduler implementations simpler and reusable.
