Thanks for posting your comments,
I agree with your 2/3/4, and for 1, I still prefer server instead of the client
since it's better to make sure a given profile means the same across
apps/clients in the same cluster.
Since I will be off in the next few weeks, I will try to get a draft patch
ready by today or tomorrow and talked to [~sunilg] offline, [~sunilg] will help
this.
