The test is failing on my machine due to a NPE.
However, the test is failing in the daily linux
[build|https://builds.apache.org/job/hadoop-qbt-trunk-java8-linux-x86/808/testReport/org.apache.hadoop.yarn.sls.appmaster/TestAMSimulator/testAMSimulator_1_/]
with a different error, but with the same root cause. [^YARN-8422.v1.patch]
should fix both scenarios.
In addition to the NPE, I fixed some warnings in the file. Checksytle may
complain without the fixes.
I selected "target/test-dir" as default param since multiple tests use it for
the same scope.
