Regarding your first comment:
As you said, extending the parsing logic (1) would be problematic as it
couldn't get generic enough to handle all the FPGA cards so I won't go down
this road.
Combining 2. and 3. seems the best for me given the Pros/Cons you listed.
If you can figure out what type of card was handled by the original
implementation (probably [~tangzhankun] help you with that) you could keep that
code to parse that specific card then you could introduce a new pluggable
parser implementation for Intel PAC.
It is also very important to provide a way to users for manually specifying the
cards (as per point 3.) like GPU-support v1 provides an option for that.
Option 4. seems to be the most fragile between the alternatives you enlisted,
so I would drop this option.
