Follow the tutorial provided in
https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/attachment/12604817/YARN-1021.pdf.
Copy the sample-conf/* to the etc/hadoop/ directory.
And launch the simulator using the provided sample-data/.
Have tested both FairScheduler and CapacityScheduler locally.
