bq. stat_file_as_nm should ensure that it restores the calling user/group
before returning.
As we discussed offline, the check does work as designed.
bq. (nit) might want to change the name of stat_file_as_nm - it is not at all
clear from the name that it will fail if the file exists and succeed if it
doesn't
Good call. I updated the name in patch 011.
