Naganarasimha G R commented on YARN-4529:
-----------------------------------------
Thanks [~linyiqun] for providing the patches,
IMO it would be better to get opinion from other community members and then
make some progress as it would avoid some unnecessary rework effort. And its
just in initial stage, may be it would be better to discuss what would be the
right approach for the scenarios which we are coming across and then come up
with jira's and work for it. Thoughts?
In btw wanted to know whats the scenario you want to address by providing a
batch kill ? One scenario which we had encountered was lot of application had
got recovered and the applications were hanging and finally we had to write
some script to get all the apps of particular state and kill. Hence i was
thinking providing an admin option should be better to kill in such scenarios.
And IMO it would be good to have in combination like {{kill applications in
particular state of particular user in particular queue}} and thought it would
be better be in {{rmadmin}} cli, thoughts?

> We have not a good way to kill applications conveniently when starting some
> apps unexpected. At present, we have to kill them one by one. We can add some
> kill command that can kill apps in batch, like these:
> {code}
> -killByAppStates <States> The states of application that will be killed.
> -killByUser <User name> Kill running-state applications of specific
> user.
> {code}
