The latest patch looks good to me. [~templedf] - is the javadoc related, and 
does it need fixing? 

[~vinodkv] - from your comments here, I take it you are comfortable with the 
approach and wanted the tests to be fixed. Would be nice if you could take 
another look, but otherwise let me assume you are a +0 and commit it once the 
javadocs are cleared.
