Karthik, could you summarize the incompatibilities from these two JIRAs, and
the potential fix? If the changes were made intentionally, then I agree with
Sangjin and we can leave them for 3.0.0-alpha2. However, if they were
accidental or can be easily fixed to make life easier for downstreams, then I
would like to address this in alpha2.
