I am trying to make a firstboot.xml file work. The biggest stumbling
block is that I do not seem to find a description of what the various
modules that firstboot.xml can call actually do.

/usr/share/doc/packages/yast2-firstboot/index.html (from
yast2-firstboot), for example, has this to say about
autoconfiguration:

   1.2.6. Using Automatic Configuration

Since openSUSE11.0, installer does most part of the system
configuration automatically, without user interaction. This feature is
also available in firstboot stage. If you have the system installed
and only partially configured (e.g. because of different hardware on
your computers), enable inst_automatic_configuration step in the
firstboot workflow. In the "globals" section of your workflow
description file (firstboot.xml), define the steps that should be part
of the Automatic Configuration process.

For detailed information, see "Automatic Configuration" section of
/usr/share/doc/packages/yast2-installation/control-doc/index.html
file, part of yast2-installation-devel-doc package.

I cannot find a package called yast2-installation-devel-doc (or one
that looks like it may be a renamed package). The file
/usr/share/doc/packages/yast2-installation/control-doc/index.html does
not seem to exist in another package.

The biggest problem I have is the Network stuff. No matter what the
firstboot screen shows as the enabled steps, nothing related to
networking is ever asked. Same thing for setting the Desktop. I am
working through error messages in logs. But as I am using qemu this is
a sloooow process.

Surely the firstboot modules are documented somewhere? Not generically
how to call them. But specifically what each one does or requires.
