Declaration of SASCO Mpumalanga Provincial Congress
We, the students of Mpumalanga representing 10 branches from the Higher Education and Further Education sectors, convened at Tshwane University of Technology Nelspruit Campus on the 17th – 19th of October 2008 under the theme “Deepening Debates, Building a New Cadre in defense of the revolution” hereby categorically declares thus:
We reaffirm our commitment to the application of the Marxist-Leninist tools of analysis. In the wake of the current political climate, there is no reason not to emphasize on a massive revival of robust political engagement. Political education should be a responsibility of all members of SASCO.
We commit to establish SASCO structures in all campuses within the province and ensure a quick transformation of all FET Colleges. We also commit to establishment of Regional structures to ensure massive political education and services to branches
We commit to deliver our votes to the ANC in the forth coming general elections in 2009. We, thus, call upon all young people to register to vote and to vote the ANC. We, further, reject the establishment of a splinter party and encourage our members not to join a counter revolutionary initiative.
We believe that only a classless society is a perfect society and thus reject any form of oppression of one person over the other person. The lack of a university in the province continues to downplay the capacity of the province in terms of holistic growth. We reiterate our call for the establishment of a comprehensive University in Mpumalanga.
We support the analysis by the National Executive Committee that Ms Naledi Pandour is the worst performing member of the National Cabinet. We, further, advocate for her removal in that office before the education in the country collapses.
We are against the topography as reflecting in institutional strategies. We believe that relocation of education programmes is against access to education. We call upon all PYA structures to join us in the plight of reversing the current topography.
We call upon the transformation of FETs in the province. It shall not only be about the color of the head or face of the institutions but the thinking behind the person. We, therefore, call upon the MEC of Education in Mpumalanga to intervene to change councils of all FET colleges within the province.
We call for unity in all structures of the Mass Democratic Movement including SASCO. We also call for a shift of our focus to that of the Elections both SRC and General elections in 2009 to ensure a more than two third majority victory for the ANC.
