Cde Lucky, et al,
I have read your response to Cde Funky and found some statements misleading. I, therefore, concluded that your response missed points more than that of Cde Funky.
Let me begin with my antithesis of your thesis to Cde Funky.
I believe that the letter written to the ANC President, Cde JZ by Cde TM was confidential and not for discussion in any ANC platform. The contents of the letter was disclosed by Cde JZ to the Secretary General of the ANC, Cde Gwede who subsequently informed the public on certain stanzas of the letter, hence the release of the letter to clarify the public on the contents as partially quoted by the SG.
For you information, I do not subscribe to the Open letter syndicate for which Lekota, Kaizer and others subscribe. However, I believe that formalizing communication in the revolution dates way back. Karl Marx, Engels and others communicated through letters. In the ANC, vertical and horizontal communication are communicated through letters and reports. Your question about "since when did we develop the culture of writing letters to the leadership of the ANC" is misleading.
Having access to the leadership of the ANC by who so ever should not be translated that communication of concerns between leaders cannot be formalized. Availability of leadership of the ANC and/or the former leader during this period is another, so letters are but some of the ways to access leadership.
Being on record about availability for any task should not substitute the formal communication between the ANC and its members. Even branches receive communiques from upper structures regarding certain activities that should be carried out. Cde TM should have been informed of the tasks that the ANC want him to execute.
It is not true that Cde TM is a member of the ANC NWC/NEC. What is true is that the NEC/NWC through the Secretary General can extend an invitation to anyone who can be of substance to attend any of the National structures. Even deployees of the ANC in cabinet no longer sits in NEC meetings provided they were directly elected in congresses as members or were coopted as per the constitution of the ANC.
I do not know of any resignation or termination of Cde TM's in the ANC. Please provide us with such details. Isn't he the member of the ANC. If he is, why do you create a perception that TM might have left or intends to live the organization. Your last bullet preempts that TM might feel ill-treated in the ANC and decided to jump ship.
I do not believe that friendship of members of the ANC should be limited to members of the ANC. His spending time with Shilowa as the organizer of the convention does not mean he subscribe to the initiative. When you were in Soshanguve, you had friends from PASMA and other students political organizations. Can this be interpreted as your subscription to the policies and principles of such structures.
Even if leadership is democratically elected, it is membership that should be vigilant because, if not, the democratically elected leadership may operate contrary to the mandate given by the very same masses who elected them. I, therefore, do not believe that leaders should be defended even if they misrepresent the plight of the majority. Of late, leaders spoke on our behalf contrary to the belief of the majority, what shall ne do in such an instant.
I hope that my antithesis will be engaged so that we arrive at a synthesis.

Cde Funky I honestly think you are missing the point here, while i fully agree with you that Cde TM is one of the most outstanding cadre within our movement and none among us can take away that fact from him. I think we need to be honest when dealing with this matters, we have the responsibilty of ensuring that whatever that are advancing, it must be in the interest of the unity of the movement. Our beloved movement has indeed in the past years of its existence faced with complex and dynamic issue including the one of break-away. I think the assessment or analysis that Cde Kaizer is raising is indeed informed by the behaviour of our outstanding former President. * Cde Funky since when did we developed the culture of writing letter to the leadership of the ANC, worst part is that the Former President is part of the NEC and the NWC by virtue of being the a former president of our movement. * I think the cde has more access than anyone in this forum to meet with the leadership of the ANC and raiesed his dissatisfaction within the movement. * Cde funky for your info, the former President is on record as saying that he is ready for any task that the movement may give him, today we must consult him, it is indeed very interesting. * I think that there are many cadres who were treated badly by then President, and they have never left the movement rather they have fought within the structures of the movement. I think all of us in this forum knows TM very well and those of us who are objectively we would indeed agree that he has indeed position our country in general but our continent in particular and no one can take that away from him but when it come to the ANC, he had indeed failed the movement. we find ourself in this situation because of him however some of us still hold him in high regard. But his connection to the black middle class party raises a lot of concern, for instance it is reported that the day cde Shilowa resign, he spend the better part of the night and morning with him. I have indeed personal expected him as the loyal member of the ANC who have spent his entire life to the movement to call this cadres and the NEC and try to resolve this matter but unfortunately he chooses to write the open letter to his leadership. Cde let us be honest when we engage, all this analysis is informed by the way in which some of our cadres have behave post polokwane. this cadres failed to understand that JZ is not a life President of the ANC, at some point he will like TM vacate that presidential office. i am looking forward to really look at the policies this Shikota movement whether they've got the better transformational agenda for the people of this country but i extremely doubt, thus far the ANC is the only organisation to really advance the that agenda for the masses of this country. Funky, our responsibilty now is to ensure that we achieve the 2/3 majority and redirect the politics of the youth league as many people argue that its intergrity has been taited which is at the partuicular extent been exagarated. offcos by giving more support to the democratically elected leadership This message and any attachments relating to official business of the Mpumalanga Provincial Government (MPG) is proprietary to the MPG and intended for the original addressee only.
