NO POLITICAL PARTY IN THIS COUNTRY WILL SENT THE ANC INTO PANIC

A response to one Onkgpotse Tabane article that appeared on the Star
newspaper of Tuesday, 18 November 2008. The article titled "Cope has
sent the ANC into panic".

One will mistaken Mr. Tabane for a spokesperson of the new rebel
grouping led by Mosioa Terror Lekota and his co. political
opportunists.

Onkgopotse, argues exactly like somebody who is determined and well
informed about the unborn Party – maybe Onkgopotse was introducing
himself through this article as the spokesperson for the "Cope" or
whatever this animal is called –

I think Tabane must desist from defining himself as an independent
analyst as his article exposes him as not that independent in his
analysis. There is in my view and that of others nothing independent
about his silly and outrageous attacks on the ANC by Tabane.

Basing his article on Lies and more lies, Tabane reports that the ANC
uses amongst other things state resources to intimidate people who
want to join this unborn political foetus.

Firstly, our analyst accuses the South African Communist Party and
COSATU of making statements which are assisting the so-called Cope to
grow and be the challenger to the ANC. Without substantiating his
argument Tabane makes the same mistake many public opinion makers
makes, that of making accusations without factualising them.

The statements made in the past especially since after Polokwane
conference by the ANC led Democratic movement have always been the
views of the Alliance which are by far aimed at building our own
movement and defending it from unscrupulous politicians like Terror
Lekota and his faction not intended at intimidating others.

What the Alliance for instance have always maintained is the fact that
if there is anyone who want to leave the ANC and join any political
party for that matter, they should do so without using the structures
of the ANC. It is very wrong for people who want to open their party
to use the ANC as their stepping ladder in their attempt to create a
so –called "real" opposition to the very ANC.

This is not intimidation Mr. Tabane, it is called the protection of
the organisation from being abused against itself – intimidation
Onkgopotse, if you care to note is to threaten people by means of open
violence or other means to coerce them to do one thing or another.

When Terror Lekota decided to call a press briefing in which he
announced his intentions of creating a new political party that will
oppose the ANC – no ANC leader or cadre intimidated Lekota – and this
goes to all other political hoodlums who left the ANC for the unborn
political foetus.

So it cannot be correct both at the level of spinning or communication
specialisation to lie about facts and real facts. Tabane, being a
communication specialist should be based on objective communication
especially if you claim to be independent in your analysis.

Perhaps it has been your dream to see the ANC being defeated by the
opposition parties that is why there is an element of excitement on
your part about the Lekota razzmatazz.

As you claim in your article that for the first time in 15 years the
ANC will now face a formidable opposition that shares similar
political credentials.

But obviously, Onkgopotse Tabane knows as we do that this is not true
both historically and organisationally the Lekota factor cannot be
compared to the ANC and its leadership – especially the leadership
elected in Polokwane.

Onkgopotse, perhaps we should request you and your handlers to bless
us with a public debate on the matters you are raising. As if South
Africa is a banana republic – you insinuate that the ANC must not
protect itself and its identity from being stolen – this is stupid
Onkgopotse – there is nothing special about your views in this regard.

Like in all other democracies in the world were multi party democracy
is practiced, political parties protects their identity so that voters
are not confused or misled – that is why as the ANC we will contest
anything that has an impact negative or otherwise on our identity.
Using the courts and other relevant institutions in this country is no
crime because these courts were established to protect and enhance the
democracy the ANC and our people have brought in this country.

By the way, it is your Terror Lekota who have abused the state and its
resources in their attempt to liquidate the ANC and discredit its
leaders.

Onkgopotse, it is equally wrong to argue that ANC is intimidating
companies and the Intellectual property office officials into
informing the party about people who are registering names similar to
it

It is at the same time the responsibility of the ANC as the party
concern to sensitise the (IPRO) about intentions by its opponents of
using a name or logo similar to that of the ANC – PERIOD!.

Mr. Tabane, do not use your English and think that you are making –
because this is to be disingenuous. The ANC has always had Rallies,
hosting of rallies is not a new thing in the history of the African
National Congress. There have been many rallies in this country since
the un-banning of the ANC and its Alliance partners.

So to say holding of rallies by the ANC came as reflection of
panicking by the ANC is very ahistorical and stupid at best.

I have never came across a communication specialist who cannot
differentiate facts from fiction – what you are communicating Mr.
Tabane in all honesty is the figment of your imagination combined with
your over zealous wish to see the ANC losing the elections next year
(As the saying goes, In your dreams will the ANC lose the elections).

Mr. Tabane, you will remember if you were in South Africa between 1990
and 1996 – when the country was working hard on the new constitution
which is based on democratic values and principles – it is this
constitution that guarantees all South Africans the right to belong to
a political party of their choice and the right of association. It
will be illegal for any one to intimidate others with the aim of
denying them their hard won rights which are enshrined in this supreme
law of the country. The ANC was in the forefront of developing this
constitution and therefore it will not work in the ANC favour to deny
people these rights.

Mr. Tabane, the issue of ABSA and its supposedly funding for the new
political party is not only unethical but it bothers on the misuse of
hard won monies belonging to the people of this country. It can
therefore not be proper for the bank that has failed to remove
millions of Black people from their blacklisting records – to come
today and sponsor a political party that has not demonstrated its
capacity to respond to the needs and interests of the majority of our
people.

If indeed ABSA is funding these political imbeciles then I think the
Banking council, the Ombudsman and other relevant institutions should
act now and decisively to ensure that our monies are not used to fund
political criminals.

Mr. Tabane – it is a lie that soon the membership of this unborn thing
called a party, will exceed that of the ANC – please do not behave
like a Zanu-PF supporter – or spin doctor, who believes that when
closing your eyes the world around you vanishes. Whether you like it
or not – the membership of the ANC will never matched by any political
party, I mean even if Thabo Mbeki can decide tomorrow that he is
joining your collective of criminals – he will never tilt the capacity
of the ANC to be loved by the people of this country.

Again Tabane, do not mis-interpret the fact that more than 1 648 189
South Africans have registered to vote next year as indicating that
their interest in elections is revived by the formation of what-only
you-knows – what it is.

The ANC Youth League, the Young Communist League, the Congress of
South African Students and the South African Student Congress –
collectively as the Progressive youth Alliance have invested a lot in
their ongoing and permanent engagements with Young people in this
country and beyond and therefore the interest on the part of young
people in politics can only be attributed to their efforts not that of
Lekota and Shilowa. This is so because Mr. Tabane, Young in this
country knows the real reasons for Lekota and co. to have thought of
leaving the ANC – that it is because they lost in Polokwane and they
cannot live without blue lights.

As Amilcar Cabral once said, "Tell no lies and claim no easy
victories" Mr. Tabane does not seem to take this advice seriously,
this is shown by his claim that the unborn political foetus has so far
about 50 000 members. How does an unborn political party have
membership – unless Tabane wants to tell us something we do not know,
which could easily mean that Tabane talks about those they know will
be joining this no-name party.

Onkgopotse, there is absolutely no idea the ANC can steal from that
thing you call a political party. This is precisely because the ANC
has track record of producing and reproducing ideas which are always
informed by objective realities our country faces.

The only stealing that can occur is by you and your handlers in the
form of Terror Lekota and co.

Perhaps I should expose a particular contradiction in your article and
that is the fact you are accusing the ANC of having been arrogant,
corrupt and not listening to the people over the years – what you are
not saying is that, it is the very Terror Lekota and Thabo Mbeki who
over the years demonstrated arrogance and failed to listen to the
people. Let's take for example the Merafong issue – Even when it was
clear that the people of Merafong did not want to belong to the North
West province, Terror Lekota and his company refused to listen to the
people – so it is wrong to accuse the current NEC of the ANC for the
crimes committed by their predecessors.

In the final analysis, Mr. Tabane we invite you and your handlers to
come out in a public debate where in which we intend exposing your
hypocrisy and lies.
