Amandla ANC YL STATEMENT ON THE CONTINUED MEDIA ATTACKS ON ANC DEPUTY PRESIDENT KGALEMA MOTLANTHE. 22 December 2008. The African National Congress Youth League notes with serious concern the continued attack by the media on the Deputy President of the ANC and incumbent President of the Republic of South Africa, Comrade Kgalema Motlanthe. The ANC YL is disgusted that some in the media are attempting to isolate the Deputy President of the ANC from the organisational collective within which he belongs, and try to create a situational crisis around his personal life. The ANC YL refuses to believe the Newspapers' (The Sunday Independent) allegations and rumours that there are tensions between the General Secretary of the SACP; ANC National Working Committee Member, Comrade Blade Nzimande and the Deputy President of the ANC. The ANC Youth League holds both these leaders of our movement in high regard and confident that they always stick to organisational principles, process and mandate. Comrade Blade Nzimande is a disciplined cadre of our movement who has always stood above petty media attacks. The ANC YL re-affirms the resolute National Executive Committee recommendation that Comrade Kgalema Motlanthe should be the incoming Deputy President of the Republic. Comrade Kgalema is an honourable leader of the African National Congress and Country, with clear focus and dedication. The ANC YL believes that no amount of media attacks and attempts to isolate him from the collective will ever succeed. The focus of all progressive forces currently should be and remains mobilisation of the people of South Africa to affirm the unavoidable overwhelming victory of the ANC in the 2009 General Elections.
