Finally, the evil conspiracy against former National Intelligence Agency
director-general Billy Maseltha on concocted charges of fraud and intercepting
emails of cabinet and senior ANC members plotting to discredit then deputy
president Jacob Zuma, has been defeated.
The acquittal of Masetlha by Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court
implies that the Inspector-General Zolile Ngcakani’s probe in finding that
Masetlha abused his office in allegedly helping to manufacture what is known as
the hoax email, was unfounded, baseless and bordered on groundless conclusion.
It was a well-known fact that Masetlha’s dismissal was part of the ANC
succession battle. This is after Luthuli House was gutted by fire in 2005 and
as Masetlha was investigating, he came across information implicating certain
cabinet and ANC officials in a conspiracy to thwart Zuma’s chances of becoming
the next president of the country as per the ANC’s 51st elective conference in
2002. Now the court has vindicated our long held view of a political motive
behind the saga.
It's interesting how this network is being torn apart by lower courts at the
frustration of the mastermind behind the whole clandestine affair. Needless to
say that they hijacked our movement by substituting activism with plotting,
using state apparatus to consciously break some laws and selectively obey
others in their quest to deal with those perceived to threaten the dubious
agenda of the 1996 class project.
The cold-blooded murders of SACP leader Chris Hani were no aberration but part
of the network behind the conspiracy to destroy Zuma’s political standing and
credibility in society. It’s time to rise against these sinister forces in a
fight for a permanent change. And we can as we have achieved a lot together
thus far.
Polokwane returned power back to the people and it shall be exercised
accordingly. Amandla!
Morgan Phaahla,
Ekurhuleni
