Comrades,

Thanks for the reserve bank to lower repo rate by 100 point basis. This
will go a little down well to workers. This is because they suffer the
most through bond, the transport fares, food prices, the high rate of
retrenchment and so forth.

The question that we need to answer is, do we need to major our growth
rate through interest rate? What other instruments can be utilised to do
the same job, if available, why can't we use them?

What I had noted is more poor communities being the one that are
penalised in favour of the already established wealthy one. No one want
to invest in Mamelodi because there's a high number of people
unemployed. Than to put to the suburban where prices will be high and
the wealthy can afford it easily. The poor had to pay for the transport
to get a service in town rather than in the location where they can
walk.

Investment in township is mad a fashion through the malls while decision
makers are in towns. Malls revenues continue to assist the development
of white areas and schools while in townships we still lack computers,
access to internet, lack of better services from the cellphone networks,
lack of fresh vegetables market.

Our challenge is no longer in terms of struggling to live a better life
but on deployments. The emergence of shikota is as a results of a
mansion destroyed while in the building phase. While I can't exclusively
say we are safe, but I can safely say we are in a better position to
uproot the good boy and good girl syndrome. My vote this year will not
go alone but will be accompanied with a commitment to work hand in hand
with those that are available to champion the freedom of the poor in our
society.
