Dear comrades,
Pat Manana's letter "The good ANC is history" (Sowetan, February 19),
demonstrates to all and sundry that Manana may be "an ANC cardholder" but he
shows an impoverished understanding of the obligation of being accepted in the
ANC.
Put simply, ANC members do not provoke a break-down of unity in the
organisation or support a party other than an organisation in alliance with the
ANC. But they defend the unity and integrity of the organisation and its
principles, and combat any tendency towards disruption and factionalism. This
includes refraining from publishing and/or distributing any media without
authorisation which purports to be the view of any organised grouping, faction
or tendency within the ANC.
Such unbecoming behaviour or intentional perpetration of a propaganda
detrimental to the interests of the ANC calls for a disciplinary action.
Because it constitutes a violation of the constitution and bringing the name of
the organisation into disrepute.
It's for this reason that the branch executive committee where Manana is
registered must drop him a line, for the alleged violation or misconduct
charges against him and be afforded a reasonable opportunity to make
representation. This should be lesson
