For the past few years DUT embarks on strike and the academic programme is
always disrupted and this have  a negative impact on acamedic performance of
the students. Every  year especially at the beginning of the year the SRC, of
which in all these years it has been led by our own Cdes firstly SASCO
and since last year the  PYA, resolve on a mass action. Issues like outstanding
fees, accommodation shortage, poor transport services, exorbitant fee
increments and poor students services in general are prevalent in all these
years. The fact that students still show confidence to the progressive
allies at DUT by voting PYA in all these years proves it correctly that Cdes
have been raising issues that are legitimate and sensetive to students. DUT
students went on strike four weeks ago and demanded registration for students
with outstanding fees, more accommodation, better transport services and other
other issues, the institution was
closed for the week after the mass action turned violently. The SRC agreed
with the management on all students demands but implementation of those
resolutions still remain a problem. On Thursday 26 February Cdes went to the
management to discuss the issue of accomodation which remain outstanding. About
250 Students who were in need of accommodation went to the management offices
to wait for the outcomes of  the meeting. The SRC was held in a meeting with
the management until 10:00 pm with students patiently waiting for them. The
management promised again to acquire the new outsource residence on Friday 27th
February. Students that were in need of accommodated were  accommodated in a
hotel hired by management. Then on Friday everyone expected the management to
sign the contract but it was said that some members were not at campus
therefore they cannot be able to sign. Then the SRC proposed that the
management hire a hotel again and the
management refused. Cdes refused to leave the office untill they know where
they are going to be accommodated as a result they were arrested and they are
still in custody. Then strike began again, one get a feeling that DUT will
remain an abnormal child for some time. One thing for sure is that there is a
clear gap between promise and practice in the side of management. For as long
as students are not taken seriuosly the situation will not go back to normal.
Naledi must intervene, failing to do so will mean Malema's comments about her
are correct.

Subject: [YCLSA Discussion] s...@dut IS ARRESTED

Cde`s students were brutalise and SRC members are arrested including the
pressident and the treasure of the SRC.they are five cde`s which are arrested
after they were brutalised by the manangement and police, the secretary of the
ANCYL is one of those cde`s.
The main issue is about accomodation and other issues that we agreed upon with
the manangement in our last strike, then the problem is that when comes to
implimantation the manangemant doesn`t want to impliment.there are 300 students
who sleeps in our offices and wake up to attend their lectures.

comrades can u  join us in our mass action and we will apriciate your advices
in making sure that those comrades are release from where criminals belong.

we reported to PYA higher structures
