Five voting stations opened for voting on Wednesday with the ANC and the
Congress of the People (COPE) being the main contenders.

Vote counting continues at the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, where, the SABC
reported that eight wards were contested mainly by the two parties.

The wards allegedly became vacant following the defection of ANC
councillors to COPE.

A number of would-be voters were turned away at some of the 36 voting
stations because their names did not appear on the voters’ roll.

Residents at Kamvelihle township in Port Elizabeth called on the
Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to ensure that more voting stations
were erected during next month’s general elections, the SABC said.

The IEC had erected a tent as no public buildings like community halls
existed in the area.
cdees thank for the work
