It is pleasing that DUT community has resolved its probems and it is back to the core business of the university which is academics. One brutal fact is that the reputation of DUT is subject to extreme adversity which is not good for any of the DUT stakeholders. After these incidents DUT need swift resilience which seems possible but not probable. Probabilities are that DUT will remain an abnormal child and chances of resilience are minimised by the incompetent, autocratic and orthodoxy management. I "m not lambasting the management out of frustations and emotions but because of their evident failure to provide sound governance. I'm saying they are incompetent because last year the progressive forces proposed that NSFAS must cover the residential fees for first years and B-tech students and it was agreed upon by management and progressively deployed and mandated SRC. It therefore meant the demand for residences inevetible is going to increase thus proposals to increase number of leased accommodation to meet the increasing demand were forwarded to the management last year, but when we came back in January more than 800 returning students were subject to the waiting list before the crisis of first yaers who didn't even apply arose again students took it to the streets for something that we did make a precautions about and to me that amount to incompetency by management.
I'm saying the manangement is autocratic because everytime the SRC wants to meet the VC he sends a delegation which will agree with us on the legitimacy our concern and proposals and promise to send our greviences to the VC who will respond negatively thruogh a letter or an email, to tell you the truth the VC has never met the SRC unless it is sanctioned by statutory. At beginning of the year the VC sent an email to every department not to meet with the SRC because they were not registered, that meant decisions were taken without students. Emancipation has been waged in a number of different pillars including mental emancipation from the bondages of mental oppression it is rather disappointing that there are some blacks who have been in the leadership of our people who are still taking instruction from the madam, either for money or for a common objective of weakening the ANC. how can any Black person oppose afirmative action its barbaric. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You are subscribed.
