Dear comrades yes indeed 30years ago from today cde Kalushi was executed
by the apartheid regime which was destroying our beloved country. So to
we need not to celebrate Kalushi's execution but to commemorate his life
in the struggle for the liberation of our people.I believe that cde
Kalushi understood clearly what was meant by the movement to be a
liberation movement of the masses this is on his words that his blood
will nourish the tree that will bear the fruits of the freedom but in
this political situation we find ourselves in it does the tree which
Kalushi talked about just when he faced a hangman's noose do realy bear
the fruits of the freedom or maybe it did but very few have reaped what
has been beared by this tree. Cdes today what I can tell you is that yes
indeed his blood did nourish the tree of freedom but it is up to us as
young people of this country to ensure that those fruits are not for the
few or a certain class of society I'm tempted to say and understand that
is not what Kalushi meant but he meant that this tree should be the tree
that will create a better life for all, a tree that will advance what
National Democratic Revolution is, a tree that will bear the fruit of
knowing what socialism means,a tree that will ensure that education is
accesible to even a poorest child will have an access to higher level of
education, a tree that will bear a freedom of a country where every
citizen will be the police of his/her ownself a country which is free of
crime, a tree that is fruitfull on service delivery, tree that is
nourished by Kalushi's blood will create a decent jobs,a tree that makes
everybody have an access on health services,a tree that developed a
rural areas to be better than now.So comrades that is what I believe
Kalushi meant of a tree that bears a fruit of there is no freedom
without understanding what it means to be free. In this 30th Anniversary
of his execution its only ANC that will cultivate the soil where his
blood nourished the tree of freedom by taking this country a step foward
towards a fruitful tree of freedom. ANC was Kalushi's vision and future
but today it is mine and because of this kind of a sacrifice this young
gallant made I'm free to on different issues and aspects which I wasn't
free to do, yes I am free today I have an access on things that were non
accessible to me and my forefathers.Kgalema on the rally here in
Uitenhage said we need to be more vigilant than before after the 22nd
because we are a liberation movement which understand that the struggle
is still continuing when we do that cdes we need to know that is what
Kalushi meant by those words infront of a hangman's noose.

Amandla! Vote A.N.C. for the blood of Kalushi that keeps on nourishing
the tree that will bear the fruits of freedom for all South Africans.

Subject: [YCLSA Discussion] Solomon Mahlangu 30th Commemoration events

6TH APRIL 2009 - 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EXECUTION OF

SOLOMON MAHLANGU (1979 - 2009)

On 6th April 2009, the African National Congress and the people of South
Africa will mark the 30th Anniversary of the execution of Solomon
Kalushi Mahlangu by the apartheid regime. The commission of this crime
by the apartheid regime, which ignored international pressure to commute
Solomon Mahlangu's death sentence and recognize freedom fighters as
prisoners of war, aroused widespread international condemnation.

A member of uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK), the former military wing of the ANC,
Solomon Mahlangu represents the thousands of youth who, in the wake of
the 16th June 1976 Soweto students' uprising, left the country and
swelled the ranks of the liberation movement, the ANC.

The supreme price for liberation paid by Solomon Mahlangu, like many
combatants of MK who laid down their lives in the service of their
people, is, in the words of former president Nelson Mandela "the
embodiment of the fighting spirit of our people and came to represent
the highest aspiration and ideals of our struggle".

"My blood will nourish the tree that will bear the fruits of Freedom.
Tell my people that I love them and that they must continue the fight".
These last words of Solomon Mahlangu as he faces the hangman's noose
reverberated throughout the length and breath of South Africa on that
fateful morning of 6th April 1979, and will forever be etched in the
collective memory, not only of South Africans, but also of the
international community who supported our just struggle against the
apartheid regime.

The memory of Solomon Mahlangu has been captured in many and varied
