*14 April 2009* *YCLSA statement on the French Authorities interrogation and deportation of YCLSA National Committee & National Working Committee member Cde Malefo Mosimanyane*
The Young Communist League of South Africa [uFasimba] is flabbergasted and disgusted by the detention, interrogation and deportation of YCLSA National Committee and National Working Committee member Cde Malefo Mosimanyane by the French immigration police for more than 9 hours after his arrival at Paris International Airport, France. Cde Mosimanyane was en route to the Basque country to attend a youth conference as part of our international solidarity efforts of fostering dialogue and a peaceful settlement for the independence and self determination of Basque. He was detained and deported back to South Africa under the imperialist scare tactic camouflaged as anti-terror measurers. This barbaric interrogation and deportation of Cde Mosimanyane demonstrates the imperialist inclination of France and its authorities. However, we note that both France and Spain have partitioned the Basque country into little pockets of territories constituting a Bantustan of their own and denying its people their fundamental rights to freedom and sovereignty. As the YCLSA, we demand an apology from the French authorities and failure to do so we will lobby our South African government to reconsider its bilateral relations with France.
