Comrades and fellow patriots,
The South African public has once again proven that they love the ANC,
despite some negative analysis about our beloved movement. We are about to
celebrate another victory and the biggest ever since the 1994 elections.
Our fellow citizens have ignored repeated negative publicity from our
counter-revolutionary local and international media on the person of Jacob
Zuma, and the liberation movement in general. We also showed during the
campaigns that the ANC is everywhere in this country, even in Orania, and
that has shown our non-racial character as a movement for the rest of the
South African population.
We defeated those who spread lies and fabrications about the ANC and its
leadership, but not through talking back about their "failures", but by
continuing to tell the masses of our people about what we can do together
with them. As comrade Zuma on said on Sunday, “we did not play the man,
but chose to play the ball instead”. I think that has proven to the
skeptics that the ANC is a matured and relevant movement, which is
necessary in SA, Africa and the rests of the world today.
This is so encouraging and tells that the confidence has not really gone
away as prophets of doom have been saying in their speculations. But
comrades, it is my believe that this should not make us rest in our
laurels and be complacent. We have not managed to go back to the basics
since we came back from the ANC’s most bruising elective conference in
Polokwane. After his election in 2008 in Mangaung, Cde. Julius reiterated
that we need to revert back to political education. I totally agree with
that. This will also teach those who were obsessed with regional
conferences, while we were busy with the elections campaigns that they did
not need to have done so. The focus was on the elections, not on names
about themselves and their friends as part of the REC of the ANC.
Political education is going to help us understand this precious ANC that
is not a fiefdom to others who happen to think that they were born to lead
it alone. It is going to help us understand where this gigantic movement
is heading and where it comes from. It is going to help us understand the
intention of the ANC about this land, and why the ANC is still relevant.
The political school will also make us understand why we have the alliance
and why it should remain and be respected, given not only its history, but
significance to the South Africa of today.
This political education sessions will tell us what the NDR is and why we
continue to pursue it.
As we will be having massive victory celebrations as of this afternoon, I
think we better regroup soon to take the movement forward and remind each
other we do not exist just for elections process, but that the ANC will
always there. It is my take that we have to work together more than before
to protect this victory that has came amidst much and unfair criticism
that the movement was faced with.
The leadership collective of the ANC is depending on us from the ground to
help them rebuild this movement of Luthuli, Tambo, Mandela and other
leaders who taught us we can also be led and not lead permanently.
We should also continue to woo people into the ANC and others back in the
ANC, a since they were misled and were gullible in a process. Ours is to
ensure, as Cde. Mbalula said, that we get over a million members. We need
that number not through internet subscription that does not translate in
those numbers during the elections. Door to door has to continue, so that
in 2011 we are not going to be accused of only remembering about them now,
with elections around the corner.
With that think we will be governing together with Jacob Zuma and his
cabinet, while we are down here on the ground.
Viva ANC,
Amandla,
Matla,
Matimba.
