Comrades

We have worked very well in terms of the Elections on the 22nd and
probably have learned lessons across Voting stations that we were
operating from. It is imperative that we now put more energy and focus
on the upcoming Local Government Elections. My worry is around poor
state of delivery of services across Municipalities, not all of course
there are those who are performing very well. I think what the ANC
President said with respect to under performing officials could also
be applicable on the local level. We have public participation forums
in which communities submit proposals regarding development of areas
and reality is that this does not happen. Officials concerned keep on
receiving Performance bonuses amid poor service delivery, one wonders
as to what is the parameter with which their performance is measured
and the application of Performance Management System. Its important to
have a functional Monitoring system that will reflect on Failures and
Successes so that where there are Grey areas intervention is employed
effectively.
Our immediate task is to ensure that we expedite service delivery
across all Municipalities and do justice in living up to the challenge
with respect to BIG Documents refer to as IDP, in so far as
Implementation is concerned.
We must work hard in changing and bettering the outlook of our
communities, Service delivery is the best tool in achieving this
objective. Politicians and Officials let's discharge responsibilities
we are entrusted with effectively and in the best interest of our
respective communities. Amandla!
