Comrade Steve is spot on. I expect ANCYL national leadership to provide political leadership to the ANCYL in Gauteng without delay. Political decisions that are taken from time to time are unlikely to please everyone. Individual's displeasure should not be elevated to "strategic matters". The province cannot be held at ransom due to issues apolitical. If such unbecoming behaviour by our own comrades persists, disciplinary measures will have to be meted out.

I find some of the media statements made by some of the leaders of the Youth League in Gauteng very disturbing and promoting factionalism. Indeed the leaders of our movement are similarly equal to the task, and we should not seek to insinuate that some individuals are bigger than the organization. The principle on deployment was adopted in Polokwane, and the NEC of the ANC has adhered to the very same principle in deciding on the deployment of Premiers in various provinces. When the 3 preferred premier candidates were submitted by ANC Gauteng province, it was reported in the media that apparently it was said that Cde Chairperson of Gauteng was the preferred candidate. I think this kind of approach augers against the principle adopted in Polokwane, because the principle says that the province must nominate three equally capable comrades for premiership. Therefore none of the candidates should serve the purpose of merely legitimizing the appointment of the other. The media reports that the ANCYL in Gauteng has allegedly spoken out against the decision of the NEC are indeed disturbing. It is my belief that the Youth League comrades in Gauteng actively participated in the process of selecting the 3 names submitted to the NEC, and actually they were key drivers of this process. It is now surprising that it is reported in the media that the very same Youth League is not happy with the decision. It is therefore crucial that we all rally behind the newly appointed Premier, Cde Nomvula, in steering the Gauteng province towards improved service delivery for the masses of our people.
