Let me agree with cde Sikhumbuzo, in saying that cde Lazola need not to
be apologetic about his views. Here I am tempted to indicate that here
at YCLSA forum discussions no-one has monopoly of the truth or political
clarity. We are all engaged in discussing how best to manage the
republic and its challenges, particularly in the struggle for economic
liberation.

I have noticed a tendency where comrades do not want to “write what they
think” because what they think might seem not to posses political
clarity or be less intelligent or weak. In reality, we know what we know
because that has been what we have been exposed to. I do not believe
that the primary purpose of the forum was to be a platform for
show-casing ones intelligence capacity but to frankly engage as comrades
in a process of “each one teach one”, so in essence we all learning as
we go along. For example I have hardly seen topics where comrades are
asking on issues that pertain to state of affairs.

For example I have been pondering a perception held by many of our
comrades that Polokwane (resolutions/leadership) represented an
indication or shift to the left. I have tried to gather evidence as I
have been entertaining this question, but I can’t seem to find any
substantial support that Polokwane was a shift of some sort. Surely it
was a meaningful victory against the 1996 class project and its
perspective. But I fail to see huge or radical change in how things have
been happening. I have asked this question even to ANC senior comrades
like Cde Ben Turok and Jeremy Cronin and they cite that ANC has found it
difficult to move towards the left and cited several reasons for that.
To cde Jeremy one of the most important things about Polokwane was the
fact that people (ordinary members) still had control of the
organization and clearly stipulated that leadership is there to
facilitate what ordinary people were saying.

To me the only major changes will be limited on the focus continuing
economic growth, managing the recession, more emphasis on service
delivery than an ideological shift.

Hello Comrade

There is no way you are out of order my good comrade on your
articulations
below. And please do not be apologetic about saying the truth.

Comrades maybe I will be out of order on this but believe me the content
of
what I will articulate here is based on what this woman by the name of
Helen
has said against the president of the Republic. What is doing its not
only
against the ruling party but against the entire black society I wanda
what
Lekotea is saying now after his utterances on affirmative action and
howe
should we understand white society. This to me tells all those who voted
for
Cope in that province that the divide and rule strategy of Zille is
working
and she is enjoying the hegemony now on that. Let me pause there

Comrade Aphiwe, all of this justifies a need for media appeals tribunal.

To prove that common sense has e
vaporated in the newsroom, on Friday
(May 8)
Sowetan front pdoubts sanity of boy who insists Lekganyane is his father (sic).
Sowetan
journalist Cecil Motsepe did not have first-hand knowledge of the sanity
of
the jailbird whose mother doubts his outrageous claims. But Sowetan
without
verifying any of the young man's obscure claims that Bishop Barnabas
Lekganyane is his father, went ahead to publish the story to harm
Lekganyane's good name and reputation in society.

Upon realising that it has came close to be forsaken by some readers for
going off at a foolish tangent, on Monday (May 11) Sowetan ran an
editorial
"An unhappy task" to justify the so-called "the painful decision" to
publish
false and unverified story in such a sensational manner unbefitting of a
professional. This is not only cheap tabloid journalism but plain abuse
of
press freedom at the shallowness of public interest. Needless to say
that
some Christians were offended and armed themselves with the Bible to say
"Lying lips conceal hatred, and whoever utters slander is a fool"
(Proverbs
10:18).

With all of this, it's also worth knowing that the sobriety of senior
magistrate Daniel Thulare was patently questionable as it's very unusual
for
summons to be issued in a hearsay maintenance claim without inviting any
corroboration by a reliable witness or the young man's mother.

Not to mention that Sowetan took a similar approach when one
attention-seeking woman made unfounded claims about then state president
Kgalema Motlanthe. This new culture of walking blindfold through a
minefield
is making a mockery of media freedom, suggesting a need to revisit the
lack
of probity and self-control model abused by media practitioners.

And the establishment of a media appeals tribunal remains the only way
forward.

Dear activists/politicians/members of society

Some of the apparent stupidity might be calculated means to achieve what
is unachievable. For example these editors such as (Martin) are
attempting to incite our people and woke up a dead snake in the name of
freedom of speech. We need not to reduce our intellect to neither
entertaining nor debating these issues.actually by getting into an
argument you have already lost it.

Al gore once said "When you have the facts on your side, argue the
facts. When you have the law on your side, argue the law. When you have
neither, then people howl." So this editor is merely howling. And the
problem with howling is that no matters how laud you can unleash it,
that will not make it to have value than blazing hot air.

Plato also once said ""The partisan, when he is engaged in a dispute,
cares nothing about the rights of the question, but is anxious only to
convince his hearers of his own assertions."
