Cde Jomo Kambule discusses the issue of ownership of succession from the
context finding area of convergence between COSATU and ANCYL leadership. The
matter of succession may only become sacrosanct when poltical actors in SA
political landscape looses its shape.
There should not the owner of the succession debate because political interest
and leadership derive from struggles and blue print for the future. The
leadership of the country is one of the major cpomponents determining the
future capacity of the state to provide human neeeds. One corner have
attributed this matter to falling into media trap; while the other attributed
it to mobility in politics to can look at future threats and prepare for
mitigation. To me what counts is the vigilance by thre working to ensure that
the state now and in the future is able to respond to socio-economic chalenges
of our population. The respect of the mass views through democratic elections
should be the cornerstone for the determination of who leads the NDR.
The conclusion by Cde Jomo that socialism can be destroyed by capitalism itself
decaying and not by the Communists/Socialists leadership needs expansion of
contempt if it suggests the undermining of communists efforts. In Das Capital
Marx indicated that capitalism will collapse itself. This long standing and
tested readership is consonant with the current economic crisis whereby it
(capitalism) needs the workers to bail it out through taxes collected by the
state. My major concern is when the comrade does not show the significance of
the struggle of the working class led by comunists and the impact it would
have to frustrate capitalism to die. In any case socialism cannot be attained
concurrently when capitalism is strong.
The construction of a socialist state is not going to be an accident emanating
from the collpase of capital alone. Socialism wil be constructed out of of the
defeat of capitalism which struggle should be led by the leadership of clarity
under the South African Communist Party in this country. The weakening of
capitalism provides for the thriving of Socialism because, developmentally
speaking, a change from capitalism wil give birth to a new system.
As we advance in our struggle, let us march appreciating the significant
contributions Communists make in transforming society. Such appreciation would
mibilise the workers of the world to unite with the understanding that for
change to happen it is out human actions.
