Cde Mxo, Last night's game was a marvel. I am impressed with the boys. In most cases as Africans, we tend to be followed by names. I have never met a rich "Mhlupheki", "Mfan'uzodlani", "Shonaphi", "Layekile" etc. These names have followed the persons. The question is, does this name-following-pattern applies to institutions, structures and so forth? If yes, then Bafana will remain boys to men. Nonetheless, I am not for the view of a name change but some changes in the national team enroute to the World Cup. Even if we change the name, if the coach make substitutions in 90min we are likely to remain losers. The issue of Aaron Mokoena has been there for some time now. To be honest, I see Aaron as a liability to the team. However, the coach has an organized defense (Aaron included). I checked his games in his previous team, the summary is that he played far too less games and did not play for the whole two months before the Poland game. What does this mean to our national team. Changing a name and not changing a process will mean nothing. >>> "Mxolisi Mlatha" <[email protected]> 6/26/2009 10:47 AM >>> Cde Tuis One of our biggest blunders was when we fired Clive Barker, we continued down this slippery slope firing every good coach the International and local community could offer. Yesterday Bafana (please lets change this meaningless name here I agree with T Mbeki) played the game of their life. Even the Brazilians would tell you that we matched them pound for pound both in attack and defence. Save for the manner in which we defended the free kick, taking nothing away from Alves who took a breath taking Kick. The Coach must be allowed to do things his own way, otherwise why have him. In the last few days people have been acting as if it is compulsory to substitute putting not only pressure on the coach but players as well. Had we won yesterday which was highly possible every one would have acknowledged that we played well. Two years ago we would possibly not have scored a single goal and conceded numerous in all our games. Safe to say we had one of the best defences in the tournament. With Natalino Santana we can only build from here. We played against teams that all qualified by virtue of being champions in FIFA recognised Global Competitions, we came into the COnfed cup as no bodies (only we still remember nostalgically that we were the African Champs long ago in 1996) we can only build from hear.
