STATEMENT ON THE MASSIVE RALLY THAT MARKED THE END OF THE 2009 YOUTH MONTH The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in the North Coast Region appreciates the support it received on its youth rally from more than 6000 young people from all over Uthungulu District Municipality. The rally was held on Sunday, 28 June 2009 in Richards Bay's Nzalabantu area. It marked the end of the 2009 Youth Month and stressed on the continuous work that is being done to better the lives of all young people. Young people in attendance defied the scorching wind that engulfed the Nzalabantu Sports Ground to listen to ANC Provincial Executive Committee member Celiwe Madlopha and ANC Youth League Provincial Chairperson Mxolisi Kaunda. Both Speakers made emphasis on the need for young people to be disciplined, vigilant and remain committed on the gains that have come with the emancipation of the majority of South Africans. They called for a stronger, united and vibrant youth voice. The two also thanked the wonderful contribution made by the young people towards the ANC winning KwaZulu Natal once more. Youth were promised that labour brokers will be done away with, within the current government's term of office. They were also informed of the launch of the NYDA and its expected function plus that one of SETA's. Mduduzi Mhlongo, our Regional Chairperson, recommitted the Regional Executive Committee to continuously work with youth in mobilizing all sections of our community for an ANC victory in the 2011 Local Government elections. He said the ANC Youth League will ensure that all people understands that the ANC is the only organisation that is prepared to work in partnership with all people in developing their lives for better.
