These are good news and they are welcomed by the Neglected Northern
Cape province. We are of the believe that this budget will be evenly
spread amongst all deserving provinces. In the previous financial year
we were faced by a situation whereby the Provincial C.F.O overspent
the departments budget with more than R700 million, our province has
more temp teacher's than any other province, it is quite obvious that
we need these practitioners permanently but still our education dept
bluntly refuses to put these guyz on the departments payroll system as
full time employees.

Second to this is the long outstanding issue around a university, its
quite dissapointing that 15 years in democracy still this province
does nt have a fully fletched UNIVERSITY. This is the same issue that
oppositions used as a campaigning tool against ANC, Especially COPE,
hence they became the main opposition in the province. Guess wu gave
them these votes, obviously it should be our parents, i mean these
folks knows how crucial education is to the lives of their children,
why do we hav to be the only province that has to send our kids to
other provinces to further their education. What is the result of
that, our parents have to pay tuition fees, transport fee,
accomodation and food which does not come cheap. To date we have more
then 3000 matriculants yearly who are sitting home only because the
parents do not hav enough money to cover the above mentioned expenses.
All of this has led to tertiary education being afforded only by
middle and and high income earners, marginalising the remainder once
more.

These matters hav been raised before, but this time around let the
forum ensure that we engage on these issues and the respective
department delivers accordingly
