ANC WOMEN’S LEAGUE NORTH WEST STATEMENT ON THE DECISION
OF THE ANC NEC TO DISBAND THE NORTH WEST PEC.

The ANC Women’s League in the North West has received with greatest
relieve and motivation the decision of the National Executive Committee to
finally disband the Provincial Executive Committee of the ANC in the North
West. As a result of this decision we also wish to condemn the violent
behavior and attacks at members of the branches and the leadership
displayed at a Provincial General Council in Rustenburg on Sunday.
For a very long time since the election of this structure in May 2008, we
as the ANC Women’s League have been very emphatic with the call for its
disbandment because of the dark shadow of illegitimacy, fraud and vote
rigging that surrounded its election in Sun City.

Despite the numerous attempts and calls for national intervention by the
ANC membership the Leagues and Alliance structures to rectify this
situation the PEC with its headstrong approach failed to unite the ANC.
The membership felt deeply polarized from their organization plainly
because of their differing opinions.

We are deeply motivated and encouraged by the fact that this long awaited
decision; the national leadership finally came to the party and was able
to intervene to salvage the lifeblood of the ANC in the North West which
was already in the state of beyond deterioration.

The fraudulent PEC in this province has continuously without fail allowed
itself to be deviated from its strategic objective of being the liberator
of the people and the provider of a better life for all. It continued to
operate and be dominated by sheer hatred, high level of patronage,
factionalism, cronyism and nepotism which prevented the organization from
existing above petty politicking and personal aggrandizement.

In the short period of their leadership stint branches of the ANC ceased
to exist as basic unit of the organization, there has been rampant
corruption of the ANC membership (something that needs urgent audit from
national).

The ANC Women’s League as custodians of the ANC is determined to work
tirelessly for a united and strong ANC in this province where political
engagement and difference of views or opinions will form the basis of
building a strong ANC. We are grateful that at last the many members of
the ANC who felt marginalized in their own organization will now come back
into the fold to serve their beloved organization.

We therefore wish the new Provincial Task Team structure under the
leadership of the ANC NEC deployees a success in executing the most
challenging task of developing a new cadre of the ANC, forging unity of
the ANC in the province and enhancing the process of service delivery in
the many municipalities of the North West.
