Cdes, The debate was correct and there was a balance in terms of classical views of the structures that Cde Julius and Cde Buti represents regarding many aspects of society. The views on two nations country (Black and White), the views on minorities (Coloreds and indians), the views on political and administrative operations of both organisations, and the relationships of these organisations, the strength of the PYA and the PYAs capacity to engage on any issue were all correctly discussed. I think that there are more personal things between the two leaders other than the face value discussion. The statement made by Cde Julius that is similar to that made by comrade Mbeki in the 2007 Policy Conference was irrelevant to the topic. He said "The YCL will not dictate to the branches of the youth league how they must reflect to issues of public debate, the YCL launch its branches with 30 members while the youth league launch its branches with 100 members...". To me, this statement was unnecessary to the debate and for that matter it becomes very loaded. I agree that the PYA shall make a press statement to clarify issues of unity within parameters of progressive engagement. This statement shall also promote dual membership of structures of the PYA within membership regulations of each PYA component. It shall also promote the principle of open debates and the ability of one component to independently raise an issue outside of the PYA. Asikhulume!!
>>> sive gumenge <[email protected]> 02/09/2009 11:50 >>> Greetings, I think it was good that the issue was put publicly so that it can come to rest now. However, I have a problem with the arrogancy of Cde Juluis in relation to the views of Cde Buti. I think there is still that perception which I do not know where it comes from, that the ANCYL leads the youth alliance. Cde Juluis needed to be clear with relation to Cde Blade and not just speak in general. However, both leaders must call a national press briefing to address both their views in unity of PYA including Cde Mawethu Rune and Cde Lesley of COSAS being there. Let us not allow media though to devide our people. Viva Cde Buti.... My view is that there are things which both our leaders might have said which require engagement to clarify so to avoid further confusion and unnecessary distortion of facts which might cause mayhem within the PYA and the broader Alliance Movement. Those of you who listened to the debate, what are your views on the debate itself? Lets debate and clarify.
