![]() 3RD UPDATE: MPUMALANGA 7TH CONGRESS - 19 SEPTEMBER 2009 MANAMELA ADDRESSES THE MPUMALANGA 7TH CONGRESS The national Secretary of the Young Communist league, Buti Manamela made a surprise entrance at the SACP Mpumalanga 7th Provincial Congress that started yesterday, the 18th of September 2009. The congress was earlier on addressed by the General Secretary of the Communist Party, Dr. Blade Nzimande. In his address Manamela challenges Blade Nzimande’s apology for not having stopped the state from purchasing ministerial car thought to be suitable for the safety and security of any Minister of Higher education and Training during the period the car will not have reached 120 000 kilometers. Manamela questioned why Nzimande apologized on something that he was not mandated by the party to deal with. “We delegated Blade Nzimande to go and assist in the transformation of the society and accelerate the National Democratic Revolution. We did not send him to go sit, count and choose privileges. We know that all those are regulated within provided specific legal frameworks of the state. We did not send him to interfere with an administration that operates within the ambit of law to serve his personal preference, but of course to identify areas of weakness and argue for their transformation. We do not have a socialist or communist state in South Africa. We therefore do not have a communist minister, but ministers in a capitalist system, who are communist we have and Blade is one of them” said Manamela. Manamela also called on young people to continue to dedicate their lives to the struggles of the poor with vigor, militancy and vigilance. He said that part of ending cyclical poverty and joblessness is to ensure that the youth of this country do not grow up unprepared for the future. Education is a key to open the doors that will free them from bondages of poverty. He indicated to the youth that skills are not only critical for employment for the youth, but for the acceleration of economic development and leadership of the country. However, he warned the youth that militancy must be accompanied by content and well thought ideas, otherwise whatever is said is going is just going to be logical noise without contributing to a new thought to assist the society to understand the young, their needs and their roles in the society. Manamela took a swipe on what he called opportunists in the National democratic Revolution who have developed new joy in bashing communists. “This manifests itself in the form of isolating communist and establish imaginary laws in their own minds that must govern communists in public offices outside what is provided for everyone by law. It also manifest itself in the form of debate on what they call leadership succession and I do not know why are we not debating leadership sustenance as well, because the ANC has just come back from conference where it elected its leaders. How do we begin to evaluate their work even before they start?” Manamela Questions. The congress has already unanimously retained the majority of its Provincial office bearers of the Provincial Executive Council, safe for the Deputy Chairperson, as follows: 1. Bonakele Majuba - Provincial Secretary. Majuba is also the Chairperson of portfolio committee on Public Works, Roads and Transport in the Mpumalanga Legislature. 2. Eric Kholwane – Chairperson Kholwane is a member of the portfolio committee on communication in the National Assembly. 3. Fisani Shabangu - Treasurer 4. Adrian Williams - Deputy Provincial Secretary. Williams is also a member of the National Assembly 5. Solly Mnguni – Elected new Deputy Chairperson The Mpumalanga Congress continues until tomorrow the 20th of September 2009, where it will announce its resolutions and Programme of Action for the next 4 years. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You are subscribed.
