I know it's been a while and you might think that we are not reading as we are
not all participating in writing in most cases. I always read and educate
myself through this forum and learn something new every day, as a young
communist I even learn on how to analyse the way people smuggle their views and
how to respond at times. But, I must say that at times I find it very strange
when I read some of the contributions made by other comrades, where people will
just come out of nowhere and dismiss other people's view instead of coming
clean in raising their own concerns. However, I understand that it's "open
sesame" and every one is an titled to his/her views as we are bound to agree
vs. disagree.

Understanding that this forum is meant for us to engage and educate one another
politically so; I would like to appeal from experienced cadres like VC to
educate some of us on how to shift focus and introduce new debate which will
provoke thoughts without any tendencies of labeling and undermining other
people's view. I still do not think that YCLSA can create a platform or forum
of this nature just for comrades to lambast on one another rather than to
debate constructively.

Much as I am aware of the fact that comrades may perhaps come up with topic (s)
which might not sound friendly to others but I think the manner in which cadres
introduce matters of their concern that affects us all in this forum is
important. To some of us everything that seem to have negative impact towards
the lives of the working class and the poor in particular becomes crucial and
open for discussion and this forum is one of the tools employed by YCLSA so as
to allow us to share and air our views in building one another. By the way, in
a class struggle anything is bound to be discussed even the manner in which we
approach things (how one articulates); however we need to be careful not to
allow bourgeoisie tendencies to cloud our discussion.

The fact that someone was not around or find not interesting to partake in a
certain debate does not qualify him/her to undermine other people's effort in
making this forum effective. If you disagree on a specific debate, share your
opinion in a way that will not limit and insult others. If someone wants us to
debate International Matters bring them on board and comrades will share their
take on the issue. Issues of service delivery we debate them every day in this
forum and in most cases workable solutions are provided.

I am starting to question myself on the number of people that participates in
this forum because a communist child will never attack another but rather
assist and give political guidance. As communist, the approach is very key
because our aim is not to destroy.

I remain,

Subject: [YCLSA Discussion] Left-Wing Babies & Petty Discussions -- Ian Beddowes

Having fairly recently come fro Zimbabwe, where there are huge issues of class,
race, imperialism and Pan-Africanism, I am gobsmacked by the waste of time
spent in this forum by discussions on motor cars and other trivia. There are
major issues such as rural development, illegal evictions and education for
which we need to find solutions -- and that is only in South Africa.
There are further issues, hardly touched on, as to why, 15 years into
democracy, has a South African President only now visited Angola, which
provided bases for MK at a massive cost to the Angolan people? Why did COSATU
try to block the Zimbabwean border in solidarity with the Anglo-American Axis?
Why, when the South African struggle was assisted by neighbouring countries, do
South Africans, more especially those who claim to be Marxists, want to eat
alone?
The only person who I have heard speak out publicly on these issues is
President Jacob Zuma in the speech he made at last years MK Commemoration in
Bloemfontein -- if ther are others -- I will be interested to hear more.
Pan-Africanism is not for the PAC only. Most of all, I am horrified by the
lack of kowledge on the Second Congo War, the biggest war since World War 2 in
terms of the loss of human lives. But after all they were only Makwerekwere,
and its far more important for South Africans to discuss whether or not a
minister spent too much on a car.
