Dear Colleagues,

3 mineworkers, one woman and two men, have been shot at Shabanie Mine in the mining town of Zvishavane.

They were part of workers who were demonstrating over their salaries that have not been paid since January.

The action by the workers started over three weeks ago and the mine officials have been unwilling to address the matter.

An undisclosed number of workers have also been arrested while trying to visit their injured colleagues in hospital.

Over the past week the workers have been hounded by security agents who have been forcing them to return to work or risk being dismissed from work. In the process some were assaulted in their homes.
