*The YCLSA commends the Home affairs for a new hotline and innovative steps in ensuring service delivery *
*12 October 2009* The Young Communist League of South Africa (UFasimba) commends the innovative steps taken by the Department of Home affairs by introducing a Hotline meant to report corruption, incompetency and poor service delivery. The Department has been in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons, and it is time that we have positive and dedicated leadership that will bring hope to the millions of SA without Identity Documents and poor service delivery. This is what we have been seeing from both the Ministry and the Department. The YCLSA further hopes that incidents like those of Kabelo Thibedi and S’khumbuzo Mhlongo will never happen again. The onus not only rests upon the department but as well as society as a whole to ensure that corruption becomes a thing of the past within our government. We further call on the South African Police Service and the HAWKS to prioritise corruption in the department as a matter of urgency. The Home affairs has a huge challenge ahead of it, but the YCLSA pledges its support to the department through its ongoing ID campaign to assist those that have been victimised by unscrupulous civil servants that see their jobs as ways of enrichment.
