Dear Ian Beddowes,

I initially did not want to respond to what you wrote because it was clear to
me that you did not read my reply appropriately. But I was persuaded to clear
this issue with you as it appears that there is a serious misconception here.

Firstly, the quotation "Sometimes, if you wear suits for too long, it changes
your ideology" by Joe Slovo has been my signature for many years and it has
absolutely nothing to do with any of the concerns you're raising about me.

Secondly, I did mention that I truly feel the pain of cde Uriel and the
situation which he finds himself into at this point in time. It's unfortunate
that a serial thief made him a victim of circumstances and caused him
unhappiness - let alone having to deal with the fear of the unknown sentence to
be meted out on 27 November 2009.

Thirdly, I stated very clearly that I do not uderstand why the magistrate
disregarded the ample evidence supported by ballistic tests that the bullet
which killed child does not match Uriel's pistol. It has always been a cardinal
principle of the criminal law that the court will adopt one inference which is
more favourable to an accused if there is nothing in the case to exclude such
inference, more especially in cases where two or more inferences exist.

In the light of the above, I cannot disect how you arrived to the conclusion
that "I am surprised by the comrades quotation from  Joe Slovo, about the
wearing of suits changing ideology -- unless he thinks that as soon as someone
enters the doors of Luthuli House, they automatically loses their ideology!!
This is indeed the thinking of an anarchist."

Unless otherwise you're quick to attack me or entertain side issues for the
sake of it. Please bear in mind that not everyone knows cde Uriel in the same
way you know him, and not everyone is familiar with the case. As such it would
be difficult to offer our comrade any moral support when we do not know
details of what is in the public domain. Pardon me for being too attentive to
detail but I like to act on facts.

It's in this context that I asked anyone who is familiar with the trial
to provide us with details, specifically to avoid a situation where our own
comrades will be perceived as "either convinced about the impartiality of our
court system and/or are hiding their cowardice behind revolutionary
phraseology."

I trust this clears any misconception you had about me and what I represent.
Trust me, I will not sit around while injustice is meted out against fellow
comrades. I've done it before and I'll do it until to the end!

Remain,
Morgan Phaahla
Ekurhuleni
.

Replying to Cde. Morgan Phaahla, I am surprised by the comrades quotation from
Joe Slovo, about the wearing of suits changing ideology -- unless he thinks
that as soon as someone enters the doors of Luthuli House, they automatically
loses their ideology!! This is indeed the thinking of an anarchist.
For the record, I have known Comrade Uriel for some time now and have never yet
seen him wearing a suit, secondly, he is known as a person who will go out of
his way to help any comrade experiencing difficulties, thirdly, he is a person
who to my knowledge has never wavered ideologically since the days of the armed
strugglr of which he was part.
It seems that some comrades are either convinced about the impartiality of our
court system and/or are hiding their cowardice behind revolutionary
phraseology. Personally I am not prepared to stand by whilst a mistake or an
accident is used to put away any comrade for the crime of being a participant
of the armed struggle. Right now Comrade Uriel does not need analysis or
criticidm, he needs solidarity. For those who want to send letters of support,
