Cadres

I have read with full understanding the documents regarding the issue of
nationalisation, from those of Youth League, Kaizer Mohau, YCLsa, Unions
comment and those of Cde Gwede Mantashe (our SG). I think the Freedom
Charter is very clear as quoted by the YCL of Gauteng. Given the address
of our SG in the congress of SAMWU, I need to reflect once more.

My understanding of the role of ANC Leadership, Alliance structures and
members is to evaluate policies and make necessary action after we have
identified some shortcomings. Next year on September, we are going to the
NGC of the ANC, the NGC should discuss issues of concern including the
shortcoming identified in our policies. I don't think there is a problem
if comrades are raising the issue of Nationalisation now (as the SG say
the Leadership is not elected to implement policy proposals that emerge in
the middle of the term). I think the SG is over defending cde Phosa and
Motsepe's. Yes, as the SG he has the responsibility to defend the current
adopted policies but must not tell comrades to stop raising policy issues.

This debate should be allowed to unfold as it was ignored for several time
now. We spoke of state intervention in the economy of all sectors of
socierty. But leadership is busy massaging mining beneficiaries (don't
worry the ANC is not discussing the issue of nationaling your mines). Let
us discuss this issue by opening it from branches up to national general
council. There is no better process than that. This process will unite us,
even those who are making statements because they are protecting their
shares thy will be satisfied with the process and implement this agreed
policies.

My view is that if we have mines, banks owned by the state, we will be
able to take all the proceed to finance the infrasturecture and other key
expenses in Education, Health and many other 3 priorities in our
manifesto, to better the lives of our people.
