Statement by
29 December 2009 Members of the Food and Allied Workers’ Union [FAWU] will be staging a protest march to the ABI Pretoria plant from a nearby departure point on the 29 December 2009 at 11h30. This is part of intensifying the strike at and increasing pressure on SAB’s ABI Coke to meet workers demands foe 9.5% wage increment, 45-hour working week and overtime pay, and the moratorium on and reversal of the use of labour brokers. The march will be staged at 1237 Market Street, Hercules, Pretoria West. For more information on the direction, please contact Peter Maphopha at 082 739 2148. Meanwhile, consultation of our members working for SAB’s beer division and other subsidiaries such as Vulpre Water and Appeltiser as well as other Coca Cola Bottling Companies are underway and the union may issue notice of sympathy strikes should adequate support be secured. Early indications are that support is likely and sympathy strikes may be waged as soon as the second week of next year. Please call General Secretary Katishi Masemola on 082 467 2509 for more information. Katishi Masemola FAWU General Secretary -- You are subscribed. This footer can help you.
