This WIVL story about Abahlali is a complete lie. The two people killed, by name Mthokozisi Ndlovu and Ndumiso Mnguni, were neither Abahlali members nor ANC members.
"The ANC" has done nothing to Abahlali. Abahlali's armed vigilantes got themselves into a confrontation with some shebeen drinkers, as a consequence of trying to impose a closing time of 22h00, on a Saturday night, 26 September 2009. The Abahlali men killed Mthokozisi Ndlovu and Ndumiso Mnguni while trying to enforce their own Abahlali rules on ordinary people. It was a horrible double murder, done with pangas. The next day, the Abahlali people involved were pointed out to the police by other Kennedy Road residents, and arrested. Other prominent Abhlali members in turn ran away in panic, together with their considerable goods. The evacuation was filmed and a video of it is on the Internet. The ANC had nothing to do with this episode. Comrade, please be careful what stories you repeat. The murder case continues. Five are still in custody. There will be a trial. Politically, the significance of this is that it discredits Abahalali baseMjondolo and removes them from the line-up for the "Congress of the Democratic Left (CoDLe) that ex-SACP member Vishwas Satgar is trying to promote. I have been told that the Landless Peoples Movement is not in good shape, either. It means that CoDLe has no grassroots support of any kind, just like WIVL, in fact.
